Japan. The future. A new age of corporate feudalism. The worlds of business, organized crime, and politics now exist in a delicate interdependence. Enter the Noh, a government agency that secretly polices that balance of worlds.

Kabuki, an operative of the Noh, becomes deeply affected by the death of her mother and can only relate to the world through the safety of a mask. She embarks on a quest to come to terms with her family, history, culture, and her mother’s death …even if her personal crusade brings her in direct conflict with the powers she serves.

A mix of historical mythology, political intrigue, corporate espionage, and familial duty, elegantly told through the haunting lens of a child's fairy tale.

The first chapter in one of the most critically acclaimed comic series of the nineties.

A young girl is affected by the death of her mother, and can only relate to the world through a mask. Shaped by a vision of the afterlife in which she believes she is visited by her mother's spirit, she confronts her world with a new sense of purpose.

In a tale that alludes to the haunting traditions of the Japanese Ghost story, Kabuki spans Japan's history and future, explores the underworlds of organized crime, a clandestine government agency, the WWII Comfort Women, Japan's indigenous Ainu people, and a woman's quest to come to terms with her family, history, culture, and the death of her mother.

The epilogue to Kabuki-Circle of Blood, Kabuki - Dreams is a mix of Japanese mythology and a modern near death experience. A Japanese woman dies, has a vision of the afterlife in which she is visited by her dead mother, and then returns to life with a new sense of resolution and purpose. The story is told with fully painted artwork.
